The resort of Montalivet (where the Hotel l'Ocean can be found) is situated on the South West Coast France and was started in 1856 by the Mayor of Vendays. His vision; to build a sea side holiday resort in connection with nature including summer holiday accommodation and restaurants. From the 1950's with the opening of the first naturist camp, to the beginning of this century, the resort planners have been able to keep the founders vision: Keep it natural.

The Medoc is a region of France rich in culture and a history dating back through the centuries. Turn north out of the hotel and visit the Saxon church of Soulac-sur-Mer. Head East and you will be deep in the Medoc vineyards; famous for their red wine. Move off south and the City of Bordeaux is your destination. Only the West is left, where days on the beach can be taken a your leisure in front of the hotel. |
If water is not your element; try out the archery, bike tours, horse riding, go- karts, motor- cross, speed sailing (land-yacht), adventure park and tennis which are all on offer for your stay. . |

You will understand the village of Montalivet les Bains when you stop off at the open- air market (Open only in the summer months.) with its colourful mix of over 200 stalls and stands. The fresh orange juice and pastries, the oysters and full- bodied Medoc wine all luxuries, which must be indulged in during your stay at the Hotel L'Ocean. The atmosphere is "local" Medoc with the vendor's light banter drifting across the square.
